These Are The Voices In The Fudge Brownie M&Ms Commercial
People love M&Ms. People also love M&Ms commercials. Who can’t help but like the anthropomorphic candies that get into hijinks? One of the latest M&Ms TV spots promotes its new Fudge Brownie M&Ms. In the ad, Red, Yellow, and Ms. Brown, the brown M&M, are sitting and talking about how fantastic the new Fudge Brownie M&Ms are. Then Yellow starts talking about how hard it must be to stick a brownie inside the candy.
The ad itself is funny, but it’s really in the voice actors’ delivery that makes the commercial shine. So who are the voices behind the plucky M&Ms? Some of them might surprise you. According to Behind the Voice Actors, the commercial stars Vanessa Williams as Ms. Brown, Oscar-winner J.K. Simmons as Yellow, and Billy West as Red.
Now that you know Yellow is voiced by Simmons, the same actor who also stars in the Farmers Insurance commercial with that jingle you all know, you can’t unsee it. As for Williams, best known for her glamorous turn in Ugly Betty and as a best-selling singer, she’s been voicing Ms. Brown since at least 2012, writes Community Voices.
West, on the other hand, is a popular voice actor whose work you’ve heard as he played Dr. Zoidberg and Philip J. Fry in the animated show Futurama.
There's going to be a new ad soon
The Fudge Brownie M&Ms commercial started airing during the Super Bowl in 2019 and 2020. This year, the candy brand will once again make an appearance during football’s biggest event. M&Ms released a teaser trailer for its new commercial and will be hosting a virtual premiere and sneak peek at the TV spot for select fans, said Mars, the company that makes the candy, in a press release posted at PRNewswire. The first 50,000 people to register on its website get to see the ad on February 3. The rest of the world can watch during the Superbowl on February 7. Yellow, voiced by Simmons, will host the virtual premiere.
While we don’t know if Williams, West, and Simmons will feature heavily on the new Superbowl, at least when the Fudge Brownie commercial comes on, you know they’re the ones behind the candy.
